In order to access these snippets, you need to aim your smarthpone at the sky. Follow the directions below to begin:
- Head to darkmatter.pearljam.com,
- Click “Get Started”,
- Enable both “Camera Access” and “Motion Access”,
- Turn up your volume!
- Point your phone’s camera towards the sky and follow the arrow to locate the dark matter portal,
- Once found, click “Observe”…
This is not the first time the band has used an augmented reality scavenger hunt to tease new music, previously doing it in promotion Superblood Wolfmoon from Gigaton.
Pearl Jam’s twelfth studio album, Dark Matter, will be released on Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on April 19, 2024.

He continues relentlessly to try to find “beautiful melodies that say terrible things”.
