Summer 2025 is about to write a page in rock history.

Black Sabbath, the undisputed pioneers of heavy metal, are holding their long-awaited farewell concert on July 5th, 2025, in Birmingham—the city where it all started. Just today, they’ve added even more stars to the already stacked lineup, with none other than Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and the three surviving members of Soundgarden.

The involvement of the iconic Seattle band isn’t just a tribute, but a mutual recognition between giants of heavy music. Matt Cameron, the drummer who’s also been with Pearl Jam since 1998, has never hidden how much Black Sabbath has influenced his musical growth. Kim Thayil, Soundgarden’s guitarist, has frequently mentioned Tony Iommi as a direct inspiration for his dark and heavy style.

This concert holds even deeper meaning for Soundgarden, who’ve carried the loss of Chris Cornell in their hearts for eight years. It’s a chance to honor their musical roots and pay tribute to a shared legacy. For many fans, their presence is a symbol of continuity, an ideal bridge between classic metal and the grunge that revolutionized the ’90s.

So, July 5th, 2025, is shaping up to be a historic day for music: not only will the curtain fall on Black Sabbath, but it will also be a passing of the torch between legends—an act of love and respect between those who’ve made rock a universal language.
