The legendary Pearl Jam live set from Pinkpop Festival 1992 is now officially available in its entirety on the festival’s official YouTube channel.
If there’s one show that truly defined Pearl Jam in the eyes of the world, it’s gotta be Pinkpop 1992. And now, over thirty years later, that iconic performance is finally available in full – complete with Even Flow and Deep – thanks to the official Pinkpop Festival YouTube channel.
Until now, the video of that legendary performance had only circulated in incomplete versions. So why were those two songs left out? During the first two minutes of Even Flow, Eddie Vedder’s mic, unfortunately, seems to have no signal, but the omission of Deep — which, by the way, was an absolutely killer performance — is still a total mystery.
But now, straight from the Dutch festival archives, we get to relive the moment when a young Seattle band blew away a European crowd with a raw, powerful, unforgettable performance.
“This is Pearl Jam’s first performance at Pinkpop and possibly the most spectacular, with Eddie Vedder’s legendary stagedive into the crowd,” reads the official description of the video. “Pearl Jam returned to the festival in 2000, 2018, and 2022.” But nothing tops that 1992 debut, immortalized in one of the most iconic images of Vedder’s career: the Polaroid he snapped from the stage, a symbol of a time when everything still felt wide open.
The set is pure fire, packed with hits and deep cuts:
Setlist: Even Flow, Why Go, Rain (The Beatles cover), Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, Leash, Once, Porch
Encore: Suggestion (Fugazi cover), Pulled Up (Talking Heads cover), Rockin’ in the Free World (Neil Young cover)
This performance isn’t just a testament to Pearl Jam’s rise — it’s a priceless piece of ‘90s rock history. Watching it now, complete and uncut, isn’t just about finally hearing two missing songs; it’s about soaking in the whole vibe of that day: the urgency, the anger, the hunger to play that made this band legendary.
With this release, Pinkpop Festival gives fans an essential piece of the puzzle — not just celebrating an unforgettable moment, but passing it down to a new generation of listeners, still captivated by the myth of Eddie Vedder diving into the crowd.
So crank it up, hit play, and let yourself get transported back to ‘92. Some shows? They just never get old.
UPDATE – MAY 23, 2025
On May 23, 2025, UMG pulled the video that was uploaded on the official Pinkpop Festival YouTube channel. Bummer. The older version of the footage – the one that’s been floating around for years without the opening Even Flow and Deep – is still up, though.
But hey, it’s not all bad news. Pinkpop just dropped the full, high-def video of Soundgarden’s legendary 1992 set at the iconic Dutch fest. You can check it out below.
