The ninth edition of Ohana Festival kicked off with a special night starring Eddie Vedder and his Earthlings – Chris Chaney, Glen Hansard, Josh Klinghoffer, Chad Smith, and Andrew Watt – a set that blended energy, emotion, and a bunch of surprise collabs.
As always, Ohana felt more like a giant family reunion than just another festival. After shouting out the first act on the bill (Deep Sea Diver), Vedder—rocking a tee that read Keep Freedom Free—jumped in with Lukas Nelson for a touching Just Breathe. Not long after, he joined Makua for a wild take on Jane’s Addiction’s Been Caught Stealing. He also brought out Kim Deal of the Breeders (and OG Pixies bassist).
The Earthlings’ main set blasted off with Devo’s Gut Feeling before diving headfirst into PJ territory with Corduroy.
From there it was a killer ride mixing tracks off Earthling (I’ll Be Waiting, Long Way, The Dark, Brother The Cloud) with Into The Wild tunes (Setting Forth, No Ceiling, Far Behind — all played full-band style for the first time by Ed’s live band), plus a handful of deep-cut covers.
Before I’m One, Eddie gave a heartfelt nod to The Who, calling them his all-time favorite band, right as they’re saying goodbye to touring for good.
One of the night’s emotional peaks came after Save It For Later, when the song melted into Better Man, with Harper and Olivia Vedder joining their dad on vocals alongside Sharlotte Gibson and James King.
After that, Ed shouted out “all the badass women who played the fest today” and shared a high school story about a principal who “just seemed to have it out for me.” He then talked about how music always lifts the spirit, leading into a powerful, unexpected instrumental jam of Zeppelin’s The Song Remains the Same.
The main set wrapped with a massive Rearviewmirror.
The encore kicked off with George Harrison’s Isn’t It a Pity—Ed introduced Harrison as “one of the greatest humans”—slipped into a tease of Hey Jude, then tore through Porch. For the grand finale, the band ripped into Neil Young’s Rockin’ in the Free World, joined by Kelly Jones (Stereophonics), Harper and Olivia Vedder, Sharlotte Gibson, and James King.
On Day Two, Ed took the mic to introduce Alain Johannes (“Sorry for the shades, I went to bed at 3 a.m. last night,” he cracked) and David Duchovny. Later, he hopped up with the Tedeschi Trucks Band for a fiery version of The Who’s The Seeker.

The third and final day of the Ohana Festival had a little surprise up its sleeve: an unannounced acoustic set from Eddie Vedder, who rolled in under the alias Amanda Reckonwith (a name he’s used in hotels back in the day to stay under the radar).
“I was wondering what kinda festival producer would think it’s a good idea to drop an acoustic set on a day all about punk… and then I realized—I’m that producer!” he joked as soon as he hit the stage.
Eddie mixed things up with tunes off Into The Wild and a bunch of Glen Hansard covers, with Hansard himself jumping on stage from the second song all the way through the end. Highlights included Falling Slowly, Society, and Hard Sun.
At the tail end of Green Day’s set, the band closin’ out the Ohana Fest, Eddie Vedder even hopped on stage to give the crowd a big shout-out.
The 2025 Ohana Festival lineup was stacked, with over 35 acts spread across three stages, covering everything from rock and indie to alt and soul. Big names and vibes included: Akira Galaxy, Alain Johannes, Cage The Elephant, Chaparelle, David Duchovny, Eddie Vedder & Earthlings, Garbage, Green Day, High Vis, Hozier, Kim Deal, Kings of Leon, Leon Bridges, Lukas Nelson, Makua Rothman, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Stereophonics, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and the awesome Wet Leg.
All these shows just proved once again what makes the Ohana Festival so special — it’s not just another gig, it’s about sharing the moment, making memories, family vibes, and killer collabs.
It’s a full-on celebration of music that keeps evolving without ever losing its realness.
