A Matter of Time: Eddie Vedder and Jill McCormick open up in a moving new clip from their documentary about Epidermolysis Bullosa.
A powerful new clip from Matter of Time, the upcoming documentary focused on Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), just dropped exclusively via Rolling Stone. The film, which premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 12, follows Eddie Vedder and his wife Jill McCormick as they share their personal journey to support those affected by this rare and painful genetic condition — and to help drive the search for a cure.
In the emotional preview, Jill recalls the moment she first learned about EB through the child of a close friend. “It was the most intense, heartbreaking thing I’d ever seen,” she says. “We asked ourselves, ‘What can we do?’ So we started small — just talking about it — and we’ve been building from there.” She also shares how deeply moved she’s been by the support of Pearl Jam fans: “People come up to me at shows, or even just on the street, and say, ‘I love what you’re doing for the kids with EB’ — it seriously brings me to tears.”
Eddie also opens up about how the EB community has inspired him: “The closer you get, the more you see how incredibly hard life is for these families. But we’ve already seen some breakthroughs that give us real hope. The tough part is having patience.” He adds that raising awareness and funds can help push the science forward: “If that can speed up the process of finding and applying a cure, then it really does feel like just a matter of time.”
Directed by Matt Finlin and produced by Alex Butterfield, Matter of Time tells a story of empathy, determination, and connection. It sheds light on a rare condition — and the passionate community working toward healing.
The film’s world premiere is set for June 12 at the Tribeca Film Festival, followed by a live performance from Eddie Vedder. The project is supported by EB Research Partnership, the nonprofit founded by the Vedder family alongside doctors, parents, and advocates all committed to one mission: curing EB. As Eddie puts it, “It’s just a matter of time.” And maybe now, time is finally catching up.
