12.00 CET "Pearl Jam in Udine on July 6, 2010? + Band working on new material"

Pearl Jam in Udine on July 6, 2010? ~ Although almost every Italian mass media and news outlet (from Rockol to radio stations and local newspapers) has recently started reporting as a fact that Pearl Jam will perform on July 6, 2010 at Stadio Friuli in Udine (Italy), we want to inform you that nothing is official because nothing has been confirmed by Pearl Jam's official site or management. We opened a topic on our forum (link) and we created a page (available here - italian only) to collect the most interesting rumors about this hypothetical date. We await official confirmation or denial as soon as possible.

Pearl Jam working on new material ~ Stone Gossard, recently interviewed by Henrik Tuxen (link) has revealed that the band is currently in studio in Seattle working on new material. The tracks may be part of the EP mentioned by Mike McCready a few months ago and that could be published in a relatively short time. McCready, during an interview with Planet Rock (an English radio), has revealed that these new songs could debut at the Hard Rock Calling in London, during Pearl Jam's appearance on June 25, 2010. Yesterday it has been confirmed that this show will be opened by Wolfmother (a promising Australian rock band) and other artists that are still to be defined.

Pearl Jam to play in China on April 17, 2010? ~ According to a rumor, Pearl Jam may have been contacted by the organizers of a free concert scheduled for April 17 (to mark this year’s 40th anniversary of Earth Day, which is celebrated each year to promote awareness of environmental issues), that will be held in Beijing, China. Artists like Aerosmith and Jimmy Page have already confirmed their presence while it is still unclear whether the Seattle band will perform at the event. Details to follow soon.

17.00 CET "Soundgarden reunion! + First U.S. 2010 date + iPhone App + More"

Soundgarden reunion! ~ We couldn't think of a better way to start the New Year: at the stroke of midnight on New Year's eve (East Coast time), Chris Cornell announced via Twitter that Soundgarden (historic and never forgotten Seattle band) will reform in 2010, with the following statement: "The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!". A new website (www.soundgardenworld.com) has also been launched for the occasion. Currently there are no other news related to this reunion between 'old comrades' but rumors are already swirling about an American West Coast tour planned for next spring and a possible headlining act at Coachella Festival. Currently it is still unclear how the 'drummer issue' will be handled: as everyone knows, Matt Cameron has been with Pearl Jam since 1998 but he has also been the historic Soundgarden drummer from 1984 to 1997, year of their split.

First U.S. 2010 date announced ~ While we're still eagerly waiting for the last Euro 2010 date to be unveiled, Pearl Jam's website has announced that the band will play at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which will take place from April 29 to May 2, 2010 in New Orleans and will also involve artists like Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello.

Pearl Jam launches iPhone app ~ On December 24, Pearl Jam's website launched am official iPhone application (available here for $1.99) that allows you to receive the latest Pearl Jam news and updates directly on your mobile device. You can also access setlists, lyrics, statistics, listen to song clips and much more. The app also allows fans to connect, post, share and comment inside the Ten Club community.

Jeff Ament's 2000-2009 playlist ~ In the December 2009 issue of Rolling Stone magazine (US edition), several artists have been asked to draw their own 2000-2009 music charts. Jeff Ament has compiled his own list of the best albums (link) and best songs (link) of the past decade. Thanks to TFT!

Vedder sued over "Hard Sun" ~ Ed Vedder is fighting legal action from Gordon Peterson (Indio) for changing the lyrics to "Hard Suin", which he recorded for the "Into the Wild" soundtrack. Canadian singer/songwriter Peterson, who originally wrote the track in 1987, wasn't happy when he heard the finished version, so he is now suing Vedder and has filed papers in New York's Manhattan federal court. The suit states, "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun'... eroding the integrity of the composition." Executives at Universal Music are also targeted in the lawsuit after allegedly licensing the track without his permission. Peterson is demanding all profits from the "acts of infringement". However, Vedder's lawyer Gregory Clarick insists Peterson has no grounds for complaint. He tells the New York Post, "We don't see any basis for a copyright infringement claim."

New Vedder videos ~ Here's the video of Ed Vedder at the 32nd Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington DC on December 6, 2009, singing a memorable version of "My City Of Ruins" in front the author of the song, a visibly moved Bruce Springsteen (seated next to Barack Obama and wife).

And here's a video taken from "The People Speak" TV broadcast, with Ed Vedder performing "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan.
