Cavedweller, Matt Cameron's first solo record

On September 22, Migraine Music will release Matt Cameron's first solo album, Cavedweller, already available for pre-order in digital format and vinyl at PearlJam.com.
“I thought it would be cool to use that name again three decades later,” said Matt, who cut a handful of solo songs on Seattle cassette compilations under the name Cavedweller in the 1980’s. “I’ve been writing my own songs since I was 17-years-old. I always enjoyed playing guitar and trying to cultivate my voice as a songwriter. However, I’ve been lucky to play in bands with the best singers and lyricists of my generation. My voice was never necessarily needed in them. With this album, I wanted to really make my vocals and guitar playing come through. It’s almost like I tried to start a solo career 30 years ago, and I’m just now getting back to it.”
The first single, Time Can't Wait, will be available for streaming on September 8. Here's the tracklist:

01 Time Can't Wait
02 All At Once
03 Blind
04 Through The Ceiling
05 One Special Lady

07 Into The Fire
08 Real And Imagined

The drummer recently opened his own official Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Jeff Ament & Mike McCready
Jeff Ament is credited as executive producer of Not Afraid, the debut solo single of friend/colleague Richard Stuverud, available for purchase at PearlJam.com.

Lakeshore Records has recently released the original score for The Glamour & The Squalor (available for streaming and purchase), entirely composed by Mike McCready. The documentary is dedicated to the legendary Seattle DJ Marco Collins, who helped the world discover iconic bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Garbage and more.

Eddie Vedder's appearances
Eddie Vedder will join Pete Townshend, Billy Idol and other artists at the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago on September 13 to perform material from The Who's famed 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. The singer will also will be among the artists, comedians and actors on hand to pay tribute to David Letterman when the former Late Show host receives the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on October 22. The event will be broadcast by CBS on November 20th.

On August 27, Vedder – introduced as Edward Louis Severson, his birth name – appeared as the weekly musical guest on the 16th episode of the Twin Peaks revival, where he performed Out of Sand, written especially for the show. The song is also featured in the original soundtrack Twin Peaks – Music from the Limited Event Series, available as 2-LP and CD.

As part of the RSD Black Friday 2017 on November 24, Poncier – a collection of five songs originally written and recorded by Chris Cornell for the movie Singles – will be released by A&M as a limited 12″ vinyl edition (4.000 copies) and on cassette (1.500 copies), with custom art designed by Jeff Ament. During the filming of the movie, Chris Cornell took a film prop cassette from the movie set that was Cliff Poncier's demo and seen in the film, wrote and recorded songs to the fake song titles written on the prop cassette "Seasons," "Nowhere But You," "Spoon Man," "Flutter Girl" and "Missing". Seasons, the opening song, was just the first of a batch of songs the Soundgarden singer wrote and which were recently featured on the deluxe edition of the movie soundtrack.

News recap: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

In less than a month, on Friday, April 7, Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the highest honor bestowed by the music industry in recognition of an artist's lifetime work. The induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center (New York). The band members who will be inducted by friend and colleague Neil Young are Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, Matt Cameron and Dave Krusen, their first drummer. In addition to Pearl Jam, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2017 will also honor Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Tupac Shakur and Yes. An edited version of the ceremony will air on HBO on April 29.

A few days ago, Pearl Jam shared a handwritten note (see below), which will hopefully put to rest a controversy that started after former drummer Dave Abbruzzese expressed his disappointment over his exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with a series of Facebook posts that made headlines in recent months. The inductees are solely determined by the Hall of Fame Committee, which has confirmed that all former drummers have been invited by the band to attend the event, but made it clear once again that only Krusen and Cameron would be inducted.

"With the date of the Hall of Fame event coming up it is just now sinking in what it means to us.

While awards and accolades are understandably subjective and a countless number of our peers have yet to be honored, we do feel fortunate to be recognized and provided the opportunity to reunite with everyone who has been part of the group.

Specifically the drummers who all left their distinctive mark on our band in the pre-Matt Cameron years

Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese and Jack Irons are each individually great players who gave their all to the early recordings and live gigs.

Looking forward to seeing them and all the other musicians on the bill. Have to say wish
[Bad Brains singer] H.R. and Perry Farrell were gonna be there too. If nothing else it makes us feel lucky and appreciative of the nod.

The beat goes on.

The expanded edition of the “Singles” soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, “Touch Me I’m Dick,” the signature track from “Singles” performed by Citizen Dick (the fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by "drummer" Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).

Soundgarden: spring tour dates & "Ultramega Ok" deluxe reissue

"We've been wanting to do something to help since we heard about the defunding and closure of some of the more isolated clinics, like El Paso and Midland, that has resulted in women having to drive hundreds of miles for reproductive care," explains Ament. "Planned Parenthood is being threatened with massive cuts and it's more important than ever to show our support for one of our favorite organizations."
The goal is to help ensure equal health care for everyone, especially in states where clinics have been (or might be) defunded.

    Carbon Mitigation 2015

Pearl Jam have recently announced a new investment of $54,000 to offset the carbon emissions produced by their recent South American tour. Funds will be allocated in two separate projects: the first is the Alto Mayo Project by Conservation International to protect forests in the Peruvian region of Alto Mayo; the second is the Valparaiso Project by Carbonfund.org Foundation to protect the Amazon rainforest. Both projects are REDD+ certified (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation ‘plus’, a mechanism that has been under negotiation by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change since 2005) and structured to provide benefits to the local communities as well as the planet.
Stone Gossard: "I think it’s good to acknowledge the negative impacts our business has on the planet, right alongside the positive ones. We tour. Our tours emit carbon dioxide. We are constantly looking at ways to reduce and mitigate that. Our strategy has been to essentially 'tax' ourselves for our CO2-equivalent emissions, and invest that money into carbon mitigation projects. Hopefully this will serve as inspiration for other businesses and governments exploring ways to offset their carbon footprints."

Pearl Jam have been tracking their tour-related carbon emissions since 2003, and to-date have made mitigation investments totaling over $500,000 USD (here's the band’s full carbon mitigation history). The biggest carbon dioxide culprits on tour include: band and crew air travel, hotels, truck and freight travel, power at venues, and fan transportation to and from the shows.

    Flint water crisis

Pearl Jam and the band’s manager Kelly Curtis have also pledged a donation of $125,000 in the support of Flint, Michigan residents during the area’s current water crisis, after the water supply was found to contain high levels of lead.
A close group of the band’s friends and partners – including Glaser Progress Foundation, Live Nation, Brandi Carlile’s Looking Out Foundation, Republic Records, Ticketmaster, Universal Music Publishing Group and William Morris Endeavor Entertainment – came in with an additional donation of $175,000. Funds will be donated to The United Way of Genesee County's Flint Water Fund for the purchase of water filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts in Flint. This fund will provide aid to children and families with interventions that support positive health outcomes.
The band has also launched a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdrise for anyone who wants to join them, that has already raised nearly $ 400,000.
